#Where Do Words Take YOU?

14th June 2021

To celebrate our 10th birthday we are asking people to share their reading journeys with us.  We want to get children and adults to tell us what exciting places they visit when they read.  This could be a journey in a story, or a journey in life – it’s entirely up to you!

To share your reading journey with us simply submit them on the form below – telling us in 50 words or less where words take you.  We will add them to a digital postcard and feature them in the gallery below.

The #WhereDoWordsTakeYOU? campaign will run throughout the summer and encourages children to read for pleasure and to get thinking and talking about the many exciting journeys they go on.

We are delighted that so many wonderful friends are supporting our campaign – you can read their journeys on our ‘Friends of Doorstep Library‘ page.  See a full list of campaign supporters below.

By filling out our form you give permission for Doorstep Library to feature your words in our promotional materials.

Note for parents:  If you are a parent filling out the postcard on behalf of your child please ensure you also supply your child’s first name and their age.  These will be featured on the front of the postcard along with their words. You can submit as many postcards as you wish.

Champions for Children 2021

There is still time for donations to be doubled thanks to the Champions for Children campaign through the Big Give! With Gift Aid, your donation of £10 can become £22.50 for Doorstep Library. Gifts of any size help us to reach our goal to raise a further £10,000 before midday, Tuesday 22nd June.

Please give what you can to help us support families who have been heavily affected by the pandemic and lockdowns. In families with less capacity to support home learning, children have fallen behind in their literacy, felt the impact on their well-being, and are facing limited life chances due to lost schooling.

Reading is the fundamental building block to further learning, development and achievement. The money raised by the campaign will help us welcome 700 new children to our services and train 150 new volunteers. With your help, we can continue to fuel children’s natural love of stories, fire their imaginations, and encourage their appreciation of reading.
